Light manipulation in photonic structures

By fabricating waveguides and resonators, we can manipulate light on-chip using novel linear and nonlinear optical techniques

Planar surfaces can couple strongly to light leading to various interference-based effects such as lattice-induced transparency  and polarization sensitive/insensitive devices

One example is harnessing the power of nonlinear optics in silicon to create nonlinear all-optical logic gates (such as NAND gates)
